4 Council Spots, City Lodging Tax Prop Set For Vote
Register voters in the City of Sulphur will have four council members and a lodging tax proposal to decide on at the annual city election April 7.
The resolutions and proposals for both items were approved by council members at the regular monthly meeting Monday night.
Council positions up for election are Wards 1, 2, 3, and 5.
Position 1, 3 and 5 are the scheduled positions for two-year terms and are currently held by Derrick Priddy, Brandon Flowers and Dan Gordon respectively. The Ward 4 position will be for a one-year term to fill the vacated position following the resignation of Randy Johnson in November after he moved out of the city limits.
Even though candidates must live in the ward they represent, all members are voted upon at large, meaning any registered voter in the City of Sulphur can vote for all council members. Filing for the positions will be held Monday through Wednesday, February 24-26 and the election will be held April 7.
