Council Picks Attorney

City council members met in a lengthy executive session Monday night to re-interview candidates for the city attorney position.

Four of the five original applicants were present for a second interview and included Mark Melton, Ryan Hunnicut, Adam Trenk and Les Wesberry. Upon returning to regular session, the board approved entering into negotiations with Adam Trenk to fill the position.

Trenk is the owner of Billy Cook Harness and Saddle Company in Sulphur and an attorney for the Rose Law Firm in Arizona. Trenk is also opening a law office in downtown Sulphur.

Action on a canine team proposal presented by the Sulphur Police Department for use of a dog owned by an individual to aid the department in drug searches as well as other areas of police work was tabled until the February meeting. The initial one-time cost to the city would be approximately$12,000.00.
