Construction is progressing on Arbuckle Memorial Hospital’s Family Medical Clinic (in right center of photo), but work has been slowed recently by weather, according to administrator Jeremy Jones. The facility should be completed and a grand opening announced later this year, he said.
Hospital Celebrating Major Milestones
While quietly celebrating in 2019 their 60th year in providing health care to the citizens of south central Oklahoma, Arbuckle Memorial Hospital will also celebrate another milestone this year with the addition of the Family Medical Clinic which is currently under construction.
It was on August 30, 1959 when Murray County civic and healthcare leaders joined with local citizens and state leaders to dedicate what was then a state of the art hospital near where the new hospital sits today. Former Oklahoma Governor and Murray County cattleman Roy J. Turner delivered the keynote address on that hot August day.
The four-year campaign to get the facility up and running culminated with a ribbon cutting and a tour of the modern new facility. Pharmacist Bob Gowan, of Seeton Drug, led the effort to raise some $15,000 needed as operating revenue and presented a check to the hospital’s board of control, officially launching a new era in health care in Murray County.
