Just Clowning Around
Event planner Kathy McKay and activities director Mary Jo McDaniel, from the Artesian Nursing Home, presented a fun celebration, “Happy Clown Day,” for the residents after weeks of quarantining in their rooms.
The event was held on Wednesday June 17, with colorful decorations, clown paintings and balloons, turning the lobby and dining room into a circus. Face masks were hand painted for the residents and the employees.
Employees wore clown costumes and a very special trained bear (Jamie Lowe) helped pass out smiley face balloons on sticks to the residents… while fun circus music filled the air. Games were “spin and win” and “knock ‘em down” gave residents a fun way to win candy and prizes. A special award was presented to Phylis Williams, for “Best Clown” for her amazing clown costume.
A great lunch was prepared by the kitchen staff for everyone, which included, grilled hamburgers and hot dogs, baked beans, potato salad, soft drinks, funnel cakes and ice cream.
