Sulphur firemen respond to a house fire at 7615 U.S. 177, south of Sulphur, in early September with a fully involved structure.The home, owned by the Julian Haynes family, 7.7 miles south, was a total loss, according to Sulphur Acting Fire Chief Pete Haines.

Bulldogs Compete For State Title But Lose To Powerhouse; New School Superintendent Named; Hospital Announces Plans For New Health Clinic

As the year marched on, it became increasingly clear week by week that the public schools, including school sports, were generating lots of news stories in the paper. The fall sports season continued to deliver surprises and honors almost weekly.

The last half of 2018 bore witness to a really stellar performance by the Sulphur Bulldog football team. After losing the first game of the season, the Dogs won all the contests that took them to the final competition for the State Title.
