Wearing Masks, Social Distancing Top Priorities For Mitigating COVID

It is becoming obvious that the new year is the beginning of a “new CDC” -- the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention based in Atlanta, Georgia. In a recent news release, the CDC announced, “a comprehensive, science-driven response to reduce the spread of COVID-19 through travel and in the U.S.”

When the novel coronavirus began its insidious community spread in the U.S. a year ago, the CDC began to issue recommendations for mitigations to reduce the virus spread. At that time, masks were not mentioned as important, probably because there was a shortage of protective face coverings then.

What a difference a year has made! Masks are now the CDC’s top mitigation recommendation. There is even talk about the government sending a cloth face mask to every American.
