OSBI Probing Suspicious Death

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) was requested by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office to assist with a suspicious death investigation. At approximately 12:30 a.m. on Sept. 8, Murray County dispatch received a call from a family member reporting that they found 72-year-old Linda Turner deceased inside her residence in the 200 block of Johnston Rd., south of Sulphur. After deputies arrived and assessed the scene, the Sheriff’s Office requested OSBI assistance.

Vintage cars with big engines, reminders of a by-gone era, begin to roll into Sulphur last Saturday as the 21st annual City of Springs/Rotary Club Car Show was held throughout the day. Many hundreds of people took advantage of mild weather conditions to check out a wide variety of cars, trucks and specialty vehicles. Included in the many vehicles on display were these two hot wheels, a restored decades’-old pickup with an eye-popping paint job, below left, and a 1965 Chevrolet Corvette, below right.

Sulphur To Receive $388,715 In Virus Expenses, Manager Reports

At Monday night’s meeting of the city council, Sulphur City Manager Andy Freeman told council members the city will receive approximately $388,715.58 reimbursement for COVID-19 pandemic expenses. The refund includes money spent on supplies such as hand sanitizer, PPE and also includes money spent on salaries, retirement, taxes, and benefits for the firemen and police officers on the city payroll. The funds were calculated based on city population. Freeman said the funds should be received in the near future.
