Smoke billows high into the nighttime sky and flames were visible from miles around as a wildfire ravaged parts of Chickasaw National Recreation Area late Sunday and into Monday. The photo above was taken from Charles Cooper Memorial Rd, near Wal-Mart in Sulphur, late Sunday evening as flames raced toward populated areas of Sulphur and surrounding areas. The view is looking southeast over the Chickasaw Cultural Center. Roads were closed and people living in homes adjacent to Chickasaw National Recreation Area were evacuated as a massive wildfire raced toward Sulphur late Sunday and early Monday.
