Flames shoot out of a Sulphur home on Monday, heavily damaging the wood frame structure at 400 West 12th St. Upon arrival about 1:49 p.m., Sulphur Fire Chief Pete Haines said firemen battled fire coming from the rear of the structure with two outbuildings also becoming fully engulfed. He said the fire appeared to have begun from outdoor burning which quickly spread to the home. Firemen had trouble reaching the flames from the interior due to the tongue and groove wood planks on the ceiling, forcing them to cut a hole in the roof. One firemen was overcome with heat and was treated on the scene by Murray County EMS, Haines said.
Murray County deputies Blake Clifton and Bryson Rogers were not hurt, but their patrol vehicle sustained heavy damage after crashing during a “very high speed and dangerous pursuit” last week, according to Sheriff Darin Rogers.
