A celebration of Life For Toots will be held in Minnesota in the Spring of 2020

Alta was born April 29, 1937 in Marshall, MN to Werner and Alta Christine (Rasmussen) Nelson. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday. Feb. 20, 2020 in Davis, at the age of 82 years, 9 months and 21 days.

She grew up in Marshall, Minnesota where she graduated High School. On June 30, 1958 she married John Barber, the love of her life, enjoying a wonderful life together for 62 years. She worked side by side with John in their auction business and at the family farm. She spent her free time traveling around the country with her three girls showing their horses and participating in related events. In 2011 John and Toots moved to Oklahoma from Northfield, MN to spend kinder winters with their daughters and granddaughter, while still spending summers enjoying Minnesota. Toots treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma. She enjoyed traveling and meeting new people, and making new friends everywhere.

She always had a warm smile that people enjoyed. While in Oklahoma, she attended Sulphur United Methodist Church, where they felt very welcome by their Church Family. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving are her husband, John Barber, of Roff; daughters and their husbands, Lori Bravo and Francisco, of Sulphur, Gwen Carpenter and Doug, of Sulphur, Jill Yanz and Tom, of Hastings, MN; granddaughter, Natalie Christine Bravo and a brother, John Nelson, of CO.
