Beverly Jo Hamman
Funeral services for Beverly Jo Hamman are scheduled for Friday, October 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel in Pauls Valley, with Rev. Colby Wright officiating. Interment will follow in the McGee Cemetery in Stratford, under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Childrens Sunday School. Beverly Jo Hopkins was born June 26, 1921 to Gus and Myrtle (Brown) Hopkins in Seminole and entered eternal life October 21, 2017 at the age of 96 years. She grew up in the area of Earlsboro, Okla., and began working for Singer Sewing Machine Co. in her teens teaching others to sew. Jo could make any garment by only looking at it. Later she moved to Los Angeles, Calif., where she owned and operated her own bridal gown shop in the late 40s. Beverly Jo married Earl Hamman on September 4, 1950 in Yuma, Arizona. In August of 1952, their daughter Bettye Jo was born followed by Kathleen in 1955 and Jeanne in 1957 and Becky in 1960. She was devoted to raising “her babies.” Her family relocated to Stratford in 1987 and later Sulphur where she spent her closing years. She spent much of her time sewing for the public and doing upholstery work as well. She was a member of the Sulphur United Methodist Church. Beverly Jo was a prayer warrior. She expressed in writings to her family her prayer was a desire to spend her life in the way of God’s approval. She expressed that she had attempted to serve him and her family with all her love and devotion. It was her desire that all her family, church family, neighbors and friends know how much she loved them.
