Bobby Ray Shepard

Bobby Ray Shepard, 73, of Sulphur passed peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2022.

The son of Bobby and Violet (Sipes) Shepard was born October 27, 1949 in Sulphur. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1968 and served 13 months in Vietnam for which he received several medals and was awarded a Purple Heart. After a few years break, he enlisted and served six years in the United States Coast Guard. While serving, he met Christine Atchley and they were married September 15, 1975 until Christine’s death June 10, 2002.

After his military service, Bob returned to Sulphur and worked for Joe Brown Trucking, and spent 21 years with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections at the Ardmore Airpark. On July 19, 2003 he married BarbaraAnn Fox. Barbara passed away September 21, 2017.

Bob enjoyed a full life, driving fast wherever he went and sky diving on his 69th birthday. He was well traveled, which included living in Alaska, Hawaii, New York and Texas.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; and a stepson, Dennis Hamilton.

He is survived by a daughter, Jamie; step-daughter, Jennifer Henry; and step-sons, Bobby (Lauren) Cummings and Curtis Fox, all from the Sulphur area.

Bob left five siblings, Ruth Hensley, Ardmore, Harold (Margo) Shepard, Spring Hill, KS, James (Karen) Shepard Spring Hill, KS, Phil Shepard, Lone Grove and Doris (Troy) Gould, Norman; 10 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Memorial services were held 11:00 a.m., Monday, Dec. 19, 2022, at Hale’s Memorial Chapel, in Sulphur, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating.
