Cecil Clay Kirby
Funeral services for Cecil “Clay” Kirby, of Davis, will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2020 at the Joy Baptist Church with Brother Tom Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis.
Clay was born June 19, 1949 in Valliant to the late Ethelbert “Pete” Kirby and Sarah Ellen (Bearden) Kirby. He passed away Friday, June 19, 2020 in Oklahoma City, at the age of 71 years.
Clay grew up in Valliant. He later moved to Davis, where he spent several years working at the Clark & Sons Sawmill, west of Davis. Most recently, he did yard work for family and friends in the Davis area. Clay loved his dog “Sassy,” whom he often referred to as his “pride and joy.” He enjoyed being outdoors, tending to his chickens, attending the Sunday Morning Dog Trade in Sulphur; and most of all, he enjoyed pestering his friends and family.
Survivors include his sister, Augusta Ernestine Atchley, of Davis; two daughters, Sarah Wood and Crystal Adams, both of Davis; two granddaughters; three grandsons; one great-grandson, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, Clay was preceded in death by one son, Cecil Lynn Kirby; three sisters, Bessie Wyatt, Kay Hastings and Pat Cole; and four brothers, Clip, Abraham and James Kirby and Leroy Goshen.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 24, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Services are “entrusted” to Hale’s Funeral Home, of Davis.
