Funeral Services for Mr. Charles D. “Sam” Orr, 74, of Mill Creek, will be held on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mill Creek with Brother Claud Williams offi ciating. Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Cemetery. Mr. Orr passed away on November 5, 2017 at his home. Sam was born on January 14, 1943 in Sulphur, to Dwain Preston Orr and Dorothy (Miller) Orr. He attended school in Mill Creek and later Murray State College. He married Judith Ann Spears on January 19, 1963 in Sulphur and they lived in Ardmore, before moving to Johnston County in 1973. While in Ardmore, Sam worked for the Colvert’s Dairy and Wonder Bread. He then spent 27½ years as a Miller with the U. S. Silica Plant in Mill Creek, where he was vice-president of the Union. Sam also served on the Mill Creek School Board and City Council and was an active member of the First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Sam is survived by his wife Judith Ann, of the home; two sons, Michael Orr and wife Sandy of Richardson, Texas and Danny Orr and wife Bernadette of Whitesboro, Texas; his sister, Mary Wisdom and husband Larry of Mill Creek; seven grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and nieces; other relatives and friends. Casket Bearers for the service will be Roger Johnston, Ted Pittman, Gerald Wisdom, Dean Ross, Mark Miller and Bob Slaughter.
