Charles Michael “Mike” Saunders
Graveside services for Charles Michael “Mike” Saunders were held 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 3, 2020 at the Dougherty Cemetery, with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating.
Mike was born May 18, 1949 in Sulphur to the late Charles “Creed” and Patsy LaFaye (Williams) Saunders, Jr. He died Thursday, January 30, 2020 in Sulphur, at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 12 days.
Mike grew up in the Sulphur area, attending school in Sulphur. He joined the United States Air Force, dedicating 10 years of his life to the service of our country. Following an honorable discharge on May 30, 1979, Mike returned home and began working at Haliburton. Later he went to work at the Michelin Tire Plant in Ardmore. Mike enjoyed volunteering with the Faith Center Church in Sulphur, distributing Harvest Baskets. He was a very proud grandfather and loved spending time with his three grandsons, who taught him to play computer games. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting & fishing.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Houston “Mike” Saunders and wife Angie, of Conroe, TX and Andrew Dallas Saunders and wife Aleta Danita Danielle, of Sulphur; three grandsons, Ellis D’Brick Saunders, Jacob Donavan Saunders and John Alfredo Saunders; one brother, Jonathan David Saunders and wife Tina, of Sulphur, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and a host cousins.
In addition to his parents, Mike was preceded in death by one son, Derek Wayne Saunders; sister, Diane LaFaye Stewart; and brother, Richard Neal “Butch” Saunders.
Services are “Entrusted To” Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
