Ella Mae (West) Stout
Funeral services for Ella Mae (West) Stout, 92, Sulphur, were held 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at the First Free Will Baptist Church in Sulphur, with Pastor Dick Terry officiating. Interment followed at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur.
Ella was born August 31, 1924 in Davis to the late Jim Frank and Alice Belle (Hunt) West. She died Tuesday, Nov. 29, in Sulphur,
Ella and Joseph Pershing “Perk” Stout were married on August 5, 1940 in Sulphur. He preceded her in death in June, 1979.
Ella grew up in Davis where she attended school. She spent 25 years working in laundry at the Sulphur Veteran’s Center. Following her retirement from the VA Center in 1984, Ella worked five years at Wal-Mart prior to working five years as a home health aide. In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting and sewing. She was a very gifted seamstress and made clothes for her family. She also enjoyed baking her famous chocolate chip cookies and cherry pies for her grandchildren. Ella cherished her family and loved spending every opportunity she could with them.
Survivors include one daughter, Diane Trussell and husband Joe; two sons, Gary Stout and wife Doris and Michael Stout, all of Sulphur; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ella was preceded in death by five sisters, Rubby Harrison, Vera Harrison, Frances Turner, Wanda Howard and Ruthie Iveas Pruitt and one brother, John West.
Serving as pallbearers were her grandsons, Steven Trussell, Doug Stout, J.D. Sharp, Bobby Trussell, Cameron Roberts and Zachary Stout. Honorary bearers were Bob Seward, Jim Parker, Glen Leming, Dewayne Leming, Ducky Day and Joe Runyan.
