Evertt Elvin Hollis
Memorial services for Evertt Elvin Hollis, 82, Sulphur, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, July 12, at the Sulphur United Methodist Church with Stuart Bailey and Rev. Jim Shepherd officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur. Born September 2, 1935 in Purcell, to Luther and Thelma (Graham) Hollis, he passed away Monday, July 9, in Oklahoma, City, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 7 days. He married Phyllis June (Davis) Hollis in Merced, Calif., on July 26, 1955. She preceded him in death November 20, 2007. He had lived in Pauls Valley, Hughes and Bradley where he attended school, before graduating from Lindsay High School. Everett moved to California in1951 and joined the Marine Corps where he served for 10 years during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he returned to California where he worked at a service station before owning a propane service. He moved to Sulphur in 1990 to help his brother, Carson Hollis, at the Sulphur Hills Golf Course. He was also preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Johnnie Etta Nye. He is survived by his life partner, Nellie McCarthick, of Tishomingo; daughters, Cynthia L. Swancutt and Steven, of Sulphur, Cheryl A. Hollis, of Norman, and Carol D. Nonenmacher, of Wynnewood; five grandchildren, Joy L. Swancutt, Ryan G. Stoopes, Rachael A. Stoopes, Tyler E. Nonenmacher, and Kayla D. Nonenmacher; one great grandchild, Titan; two brothers, Carson Hollis and LaVerne, of Sulphur and Frank Hollis, of El Dorado, Ark.; sister, Vicky Webre and Eddie, of Frisco, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
