George E. “Bo” Hood

Memorial services for George E. “Bo” Hood, of Earlsboro, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, at the DeArman Funeral Chapel in Sulphur. Arrangements are under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home. Born July 11, 1934 in Sulphur, to Grady and Hattie (Crain) Hood, he passed away Sunday, July 1, in Shawnee, at the age of 83 years, 1 month and 20 days. Bo grew up in Sulphur, where he attended school. He was the second youngest of six children. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and always loved the sea. After his service, he moved to Earlsboro, Okla. He retired from St. Gregory’s College where he worked for over 30 years as the physical plant manager. Bo was married to Peggy J. Gaines and they had many great years together raising their two daughters. He was also lucky to have a lady friend, Kay Simmons, who he was able to have many adventures with later in life. Bo loved his family more than anything, and believed they could do no wrong. He also never met a stranger and loved visiting with neighbors and family. He loved to travel and he always wanted to be on the go, of course, taking the back roads. He loved country living, taking his daily walks, and caring for his animals. Bo was overjoyed to become a great-grandfather and loved his boys dearly, they were his dandies. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Henry and sisters, Celia Sue, Rosa, Mary and Betty. He is survived by one brother, Carl (Pedro) Hood; two daughters and their husband, Robin Keener and Bob and Lynn Bell and Lee; granddaughters and their husbands, Alisha Owens and Jimmy, Brittany Jimenez-Keener and David and Chantell Keener and Shannon Cook and Jesse; great grandsons, Beau, Asher, Rhett, Diego, Taryn and Ethan along with many nieces and nephews.
