Services for Jo Runyan Thomison, 86, of Sulphur, were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018 at Midway Hill Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Willard McCartney, Jr.. Burial was at Drake Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur. Jo was born February 8, 1931 in Sulphur to Leonard L. “Tot” and Jimmie E (Corbin) Runyan. She passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 in Sulphur at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 20 days. She married Jack E. Thomison on January 1, 1950. He preceded her in death March 20, 1994. She had lived in the Sulphur area most of her life and graduated from Sulphur High School She had worked as a Lab Technician at Sulphur Veterans Hospital where she met her husband who was a patient there after being discharged from WWII. They moved to Fort Worth, Texas where she worked as a secretary for Bell Helicopter. They returned to Sulphur in early 1970’s. Jo volunteered with the Cancer Society and she enjoyed raising cattle and loved going to the cattle sale every Friday. She also loved fishing and going to garage sales, being a housewife and raising her kids. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was also preceded in death by her parents and 10 siblings. Surviving are her daughter, Jamie J. Thomison and Allen Matthews, of Sulphur; a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy E. Thomison and Gina, of Moore; two brothers, Leonard Buddy Runyan, of Kingston and John David Runyan, of Madill and a special family friend, Steve Norton. Pallbearers were William Gibson, Chad Ramer, Allen Matthews, Jack Stanford, Steve McKinley, and Steve McAdoo. Online condolences may be sent to www.dearmanfuneralhome.com
