Nancy June (Collins) Morgan

Nancy June (Collins) Morgan was born on August 10, 1950, at De Lay Hospital in Sulphur, to Mr. Nathaniel Valentine “Vol” Collins Jr. and Mrs. Lavita Iris Collins. She passed on to join her redeemer on June 12, 2022, at the age of 71 years, 10 months, and 2 days. She married David W. Morgan of Mill Creek on April 1, 1975, in Gainesville, TX. They had two sons together and later divorced in 1986. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Christina Carrion of Fate, Texas; and two sons, David N. Morgan and James L. Morgan, both of Sulphur. Nancy is also survived by her brother, John D. Collins of Fate, TX, and sister Mary Ann Wallace of Ringling, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by both her parents; a sister, Margaret E. Collins and her high school sweetheart and life partner of 33 years, Ralph W. Flick with whom she shared daughter, Christina.

Nancy was a life-long resident of Murray County growing up in the Oak Grove and Dolberg areas. In her youth, she attended Cameron and Washington Elementary schools before graduating Sulphur High School as a member of the Class of 1968. In her school years, she was active with the Sulphur 4-H, FFA, and Round-up Club, and she was selected as the 1968 Hereford Heaven Rodeo Queen. Nancy attended East Central University in Ada, and pursued an associate degree in Home Economics. She spent most of her working career as a machinery operator, production scheduler, and administrative assistant. Her employment included work with Sooner Foods of Sulphur, Stromberg Carlson of Ardmore, and Union Carbide which later became Viskase, Bemis, and Curwood, located in Pauls Valley.

Throughout her life, Nancy enjoyed cooking, baking, horseback riding, playing dominoes, sewing, gardening, flowers, butterflies, sea turtles, hummingbirds, and spending time with family and friends. Nancy was close with her Lord and Savior and found peace in her time reading the Bible. A few of her favorite passages included Psalms 27, Psalms 34:1-8, John 14:6-7,12-14, 2nd Corinthians 5, and 2nd Timothy 4:6-10. She was previously a member of the Vinita Avenue Church of Christ in Sulphur, and most recently the Dolberg Missionary Baptist Church. She was an avid reader of western romance novels, enjoyed listening to country western music, early rock & roll, Motown, and spiritual songs. She loved relaxing with crossword puzzles, playing games to keep her mind active, watching vintage westerns, the Food Network, and the Hallmark channel.

Nancy had a huge heart and love for all people and all things. She was compassionate, caring, thoughtful, quick witted, and filled with a spirit of resiliency and immense fortitude. She held a special place in her heart for so many including her life-long friends Ms. Sondra Swanson, Mr. and Mrs. Danny and Betty Stephens, Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Garrett, Mrs. Ernestine Keener, and Ms. Andye Davis and her children Mason, Gracie, Rye, and Iris.

A celebration of life and remembrance services for Nancy will be announced by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made in her name to either the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or the Wounded Warrior Foundation, since each of these organizations held a special place in her life.

Cremation services were entrusted to Hale’s Funeral Home, Davis.
