On March 18, 2020, Nora Melvina (Martin) Welty gently left this world for her heavenly home. She was born July 14, 1930 in Tipton, Oklahoma to Benjamin Franklin and Della Jane (Lee) Martin, the first of 11 children.
Nora married Jessie Wayne Welty on November 14, 1961. In 1965, they move to Wynnewood, area and remained for the rest of her life. Nora’s last years were spent at Burford Nursing home in Davis after severely breaking an ankle. Nora was preceded in death by her parents, husband, in-laws, granddaughter and several siblings. Nora is survived by siblings, Jack Martin, Mary Waits and Rita Martin and their families.
Surving are Wayne and Nora’s children, Billy Ray Tate, of Sulphur, (formerly of Waco, TX), Robert W. Welty and wife, Cheri, of Rockwall, TX, Raymond L. Welty, of Tampa, FL, Carleena L. (Welty) and husband, Jim Day, of Sulphur, and Gerald W. “Butch” Welty, of Wynnewood; grandchildren, Jaime Day, Sarah Keenan, Scott Welty, Ricky Radkiewics, Nelson Radkiewics, Billy Lee Tate, Connie Joyner, Jonathan Welty, Joshua Welty and all of their families; great grandchildren, Dayne Bradley, Jaysen Welty, Laynie Bradley, Lillian Keenan, Dayton Day, Landri Welty. Kali Garcia, Toni McCarthy, Haley Tate, Rachel Tate, Rebecca Welty, Brock Joyner, Mallory Joyner, Faith Welty, and Cheyenne Welty; great-great-grandchildren, Beau McCarthy, Korra, Bentley Ivey, and Kamdyn Ivey. Nora also is survived by a brother-in-law, Gerald D. Welty and wife, Patsy, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Under present circumstances, a limited service will be held for the family and she will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date which everyone is invited to attend.
