Raymond John Williams

Raymond John Williams was born January 13, 1935, in the Woodford, OK area, to the late Bill and Myrtle (Ashley) Williams. He died on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, in Sulphur, at the age of 87. Raymond and the former Ms. Lucretia Faye Talkington were married on February 13, 1973, in Gainesville, TX. Born to this marriage were four children, Lisa, Doug, Raymond, and Elizabeth.

Born the son of a cowboy, Raymond’s childhood was spent in numerous towns in southern Oklahoma, and north and west Texas, as his family moved to wherever his father could find work. As his teenage years approached, Raymond decided he liked the cowboy life, as he too cowboyed for many years. In 1979, he and his family settled in Mill Creek, and he began working in the oil field. In 1990, he left the oil field and began cross country truck driving, team driving with his beloved wife, Faye. After retiring in 2000, Raymond spent much of his time fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also enjoyed tinkering with vehicles, various farm work, and raising his chickens and rabbits. Raymond was a member of the Sulphur Masonic Lodge #144, where he was active for many years.

Survivors include his three sons, Doug Williams and wife, Stacy of Mill Creek, Raymond Williams and wife, Loretta of Reagan and Dewayne Williams of Texas; daughter, Beth Stover of Sulphur; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Faye on November 9, 2021; three daughters, Susie Williams, Marleen Williams, and Lisa Johnston: two sisters, Gayle Kelley, and Charlene Williams.

Funeral services were held 10:00 a.m., Monday,Aug. 8, 2022, at the Mill Creek Cemetery, with his niece, Jerri Kelley officiating. Serving as pallbearers were his grandsons, Ray Williams,Aaron Williams,Austin Williams, John Johnston, Paxton Futrell, and BJ Futrell. Honorary bearers were members of the Mill Creek Fire Department and EMTs.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 7, 2022, from 4-6PM at the funeral home.
