Services for Richard Dean Bland, 56, Sulphur, will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, Dec 23, in Hale’s Memorial Chapel in Sulphur with Pastor Dick Terry officiating. Interment will follow at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Suphur under the direction of Hale’s Sulphur Funeral Home. Richard, a friend to many, was born July 16, 1960 in Sun Valley, Calif. to the late Harold Dean and Glenda Kay (Billings) Bland. He died Wednesday, Dec. 21, in Sulphur. Richard and the former Debbie Catlett were married on May 19, 1995 in Las Vegas, Nev. Richard spent the earlier years of his life in California, prior to moving to Sulphur in 1980. He spent several years working for Nye’s Cabinet Shop before working 30+ years for the CD Brown Construction Co. Most recently, Richard worked for the City of Sulphur maintenance dept. In his spare time, he was very active in riding dirt bikes, shooting guns and fishing. Richard had a love for music and enjoyed playing his guitar. He was an avid fan of Nascar, the Dallas Cowboys and the OU Sooners. He was known by his family to be a child at heart and loved spending time with each of them. Survivors include his wife, Debbie; daughter, Mariah Peters and husband Ryan; son, Chase Smith and wife Stacey, all of Sulphur; five grandchildren and his honorary brother, Dwain “Buck” Langeberg and several nieces and nephews.
