Rickey “Rick” Lee Patterson was born September 28, 1947 in Sand Springs, Oklahoma to the late Virdel and Pearl Patterson. He peacefully left his earthly body, with his family by his side, for his eternal heavenly home on Thursday, February 23, 2017 after a very courageous battle against cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, March 4, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Davis. Family friend, Joel Kircher, will be officiating the service.

Rick graduated from Shawnee High School in 1965 and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of Oklahoma in 1971. He was enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard from 1967-74. He married the former Frances Davis on February 10, 1968 in Sulphur.

He started his career as a banker in Oklahoma City, before taking over the family business of Wimpy’s Antiques in Sulphur. He had multiple businesses in town including a car wash, Rent-to-Own Store, arcade, equipment rentals and was a Certified Financial Planner. In all of his business ventures, he believed in treating others the way he would want to be treated. Rick was a lifelong visionary and entrepreneur creating many products that were sold worldwide.

He spent many years manufacturing various products and traveling to China growing his import/export business. For the past several years, he enjoyed working alongside Ross in his construction business while developing his own wood trim business, The Greasy Bend Woodshed.

Rick lived his life putting God first, his family and others second and himself third. He was an exceptionally hard worker always putting his best effort in everything he attempted. He would never ask anyone to do a task that he wouldn’t be doing right along beside them. He had a tremendous unconditional love for his family making many sacrifices his whole life to make sure they were always taken care of and had the best he could offer. He loved fishing, woodworking, old cars and golden oldies, spending time with family, and trips to the beach.

Rick is survived by his wife, Fran Patterson, Sulphur; daughter Lori Clinton and her husband, Reece of Davis, daughter, Kelly Koele and her husband, Patrick of Hickory Creek, Texas; son, Ross Patterson and his wife, Shannon of Sulphur; grandchildren, Joseph Clinton, Logan Conyers, Breyden Clinton, Reagan Conyers, Levi Koele, Spencer Clinton, Grady Patterson, Dylan Koele, Kahlor Patterson and Ryder Koele; “adopted” daughter, Sue Berg and her children, Tyler and Josie Berg of Houston, Texas; brother, Mike Patterson of Tulsa and a sister, Cindy Hassey and her husband, John of Kansas City, Kan.

Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Virdel Patterson and Pearl Inez Van Orden, and mother-in-law, Edna Alice Davis.

He will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family and we are thankful for the countless memories that we created over the past 69 years.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Rick’s name to Davis First Baptist Church Youth mission trip fund.
