4-H News & Events

As October comes to a close, I would like to remind everyone of our local 4-H program right here in Murray County because October is National 4-H Month. Most people think of 4-H as just showing livestock. They don’t realize that 4-H has so much more to offer than just showing livestock. Our county program offers 14 different project clubs, of course animal clubs including dairy goat, sheep, goat, horse, dog, rabbit, and others are Quilting, sew & so, arts and crafts, food science, mechanics, archery, air rifle, music and survival 101. Most meet once a month a few meet twice a month. Club meetings, summer workshops, camps, for the under 13 and camps for the 13 and above. All these projects help teach you different skills you can and will use throughout your life such as leadership, citizenship, community service, communication skills and more. Our county offers different contests throughout the year, table setting, cupcake wars, speech contest, demonstration contests, holiday festival, and fair projects.
