Fully Funding the Government Finally

Fully Funding the Government Finally

Last week, Congress finally passed and sent to President Joe Biden’s desk a full-year funding package for fiscal year 2022 that also included supplemental money to support our national security response in the wake of Putin’s unprovoked aggression against Ukraine. Considering that the fiscal year represented by this package began on October 1 of last year, this action was months overdue. Unfortunately, the process was needlessly drawn out by Democrats, who refused to get serious about negotiating in good faith with Republicans and instead wasted time trying to advance wildly expensive and partisan proposals. However, at the end of the day, the resulting bipartisan, bicameral package passed last week is better late than never.

Mostly Educational

On March 7th, 2022 at approximately 7:23 P.M., during a public board meeting at an undisclosed public school district in Oklahoma, a board member burped very discreetly. No one in attendance noticed, but within seconds, a series of analog reels began whirring in an unmarked basement office in the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Moments later, a thin sliver of paper emerges. “Broccoli, she had broccoli for lunch,” a federal agent announces. “Log it and document a trace of wasabi. ” Another tiny slip of paper emerges, and he hits a large red button. “Red alert. We got curry.” Warning lights strobe. “Repeat, curry in section four! This is not a drill.”

America Must Stop Buying Russian Oil

America Must Stop Buying Russian Oil

Last week Vladimir Putin increased his ruthless invasion of Ukraine and gained de facto control over a major city in the country, demonstrating that this unhinged dictator has no intention of letting up. Such outrageous and despicable actions must be met with the most severe and immediate response available to the President of the United States and our NATO allied leaders. Unfortunately, President Joe Biden has thus far failed to cut off an obvious revenue stream from our country that is currently funding Putin’s war machine, and that is the continued U.S. import of Russian oil.

Simpson’s Session Review

Simpson’s Session Review

As you know, I have spent my years at the Capitol working to help Oklahoma’s veterans and their families in numerous ways, including ensuring they get the care and benefits they rightfully deserve. This week, I have some exciting news to share with you. Recently, it was announced by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA) that Oklahoma has reached a special milestone. Oklahoma is now number ONE among the 50 states for veterans, per capita, in receipt of federal benefits. This represents a $2.4 billion cash infusion into the Oklahoma economy.
