Dog Wrestlers Go 3-1 In Dual Tournaments

The Sulphur wrestlers had an up and down week, winning three duals and suffering a tough loss to Plainview that came down to a tiebreaker.

The Dogs beat Hobart 57-12, Lexington 45-33 but fell to 34-33 to Plainview on criteria, which is a tiebreaker that gives the win to the team that won the most matches, last Thursday night in a four-way district dual matchup.

The Dogs also got another win last Tuesday, beating Ardmore 49-21.

The Dogs gave up three forfeits in the loss to Plainview and that ended up being the difference, which made for a tough loss.

“We let one slip away against Plainview,” Sulphur head coach Drew Swartz said. “There are a lot of matches in that dual that you could go back and say ‘if you would’ve done this or that, we win the dual’ but the bottom line is, we lost on criteria and we had three forfeits.”

Swartz and his team have suffered these close and tough losses and it comes down to working hard and being in better shape.
