Girls One Game Short Of Title Game
The Sulphur Lady Bulldogs slow pitch season came to an end on Monday evening, one game short of playing for a state title.
No. 4 Sulphur (26-8) beat No. 3 McLoud on Monday morning 26-13 to advance to the semifinals, but fell to No. 2 Kellyville in the semifinals later that day, losing 21-7 to end their season.
Kellyville went on to win the title later Monday evening.
“It was really an unbelievably awesome season,” said Sulphur head coach Heath Gilbert. “We finally got that first team to break the ice and get that first state tournament win.”
Gilbert’s squad battled through a very tough regular season and according to him, that is pretty much representative of what kind of group of girls this was.
“We have a gritty and determined group of fun girls that love to play the game of softball,” Gilbert said.
