Girls Swamp Crooked Oak In Double Header
After a weekend runner up finish at the Murray County Bash, the Lady Dogs continued their hot play on Monday, sweeping a double-header with Crooked Oak. Sulphur (11-3) cruised over Crooked Oak, winning 11-0 and 10-0. “We got back on the winning track today,” Sulphur head coach Heath Gilbert said. “We really hit the ball well and had some great pitching to go with it.” The Dogs hosted Little Axe on Tuesday. Sulphur will host Riverside for a double-header on Thursday and then welcome Plainview on Friday

In the first contest, the Lady Dogs got started early, scoring seven runs in the top of the first. Sulphur added four more runs in the second inning. The pitching was just as strong, as freshman Owen West started and didn’t allow a hit to the Roughnecks. She pitched all three innings and struck out five hitters. Kinlee Duck homered and was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Kenzie Ruth was also 2-for-2 with a triple and two runs scored. Makella Mobly and Shallen Mershon both were 2-for-2 with a double and combined for three RBIs. Abby Beck doubled and Kady Lynch tripled in the win.
