Girls Go 7-2 To Open Season; Rated Fifth In Class 5A

The Sulphur softball team got going last week, playing nine games and are now the No. 5 team in Class 5A after the first week of games.

Sulphur went 7-2 during the first week and came away with a runner up finish to Valliant in the Washington Tournament over the weekend.

“We played exceptionally well for the start of the season,” Sulphur head coach Heath Gilbert said. “We hope to have a great season and got off to a great start this week.”

The girls got things started with three wins on Thursday, beating Plainview 18-4, Wilson 9-5 and Class 4A No. 20 Latta 18-17.
