Sulphur sophomore Kolbe Madron locks up an opponent in the state wrestling tournament last week en route to a fourth place finish, the Dog’s only place winner this year.

Madron Finishes Stellar Season With 4th In State

Sulphur sophomore Kolbe Madron finished off a stellar season with a 4th place finish at the OSSAAState Wrestling Tournament last weekend in Oklahoma City, leading four Sulphur wrestlers in competition.

Madron was the only placer for the Dogs, capping off a season in which he finished 38-10.

“Kolbe had a great tournament,” said Sulphur head coach Drew Swartz. “He won his first match and then we knew it would be a tough match in the semifinals.”

After beating Brent Dawson (32-12) from Bridge Creek 6-2 in the first round, Madron was locked in a tight one with Wesley Scott (37-3) from Pawnee in the semifinals.

The two battled to a scoreless tie into the 3rd period.

Swartz then discussed what happened in the 3rd period and how things went down in the match.
