Season Snatched Away Makes Sulphur 220-Pound Wrester More Determined

On a Saturday night last February, Sulphur’s Dan Baker fell to the mat in disbelief. An unbelievable season had been snatched from him in the final episode, as he was trying to repeat as a state champion and set himself up for a chance at three in a row. What seemed like an unstoppable momentum came to a halt that night and seemingly left Baker looking for answers. Except that it didn’t. Sure, the loss at state last year impacted him, but as many in the Sulphur community know. He was already a champion and was out to reach that level again, only in the most emphatic way possible.
