The Sulphur girls are 3-3 coming out of Christmas break, hoping to pick up a bunch of wins as they head into the second part of the season.

2020 Sports’ Year In Review

The Sulphur Lady Bulldogs rallied through the loser’s bracket last Friday in the regional meet to earn a ticket to this week’s state slowpitch softball tournament, beating Plainview for the title. The local girls made state the hard way after losing their first game to the Indians, then re-grouping and battling through the loser’s bracket and storming past Plainview for the title in the title game. Sulphur played Cushing in the first round of the state meet on Wednesday in a game played at the Ball Fields at Fire Lake in Shawnee after this newspaper’s deadline. It was another impressively successful calendar year for Sulphur athletics, as players, coaches and administrators put COVID-19 behind them and found a way to continue to compete at a high level.
