The Sulphur powerlifting team signals they’re number one after winning their fourth state title in March. The Sulphur Lady Bulldogs rallied through the loser’s bracket last Friday in the regional meet to earn a ticket to this week’s state slowpitch softball tournament, beating Plainview for the title. The local girls made state the hard way after losing their first game to the Indians, then re-grouping and battling through the loser’s bracket and storming past Plainview for the title in the title game. Sulphur played Cushing in the first round of the state meet on Wednesday in a game played at the Ball Fields at Fire Lake in Shawnee after this newspaper’s deadline. It was another impressively successful calendar year for Sulphur athletics, as players, coaches and administrators put COVID-19 behind them and found a way to continue to compete at a high level.
The Sulphur wrestlers had a great week, picking up two exciting dual victories over Durant and Ada, as well as competing at the Southern Oklahoma Invitational in Duncan.

The Sulphur girls picked up a big win over Byng last Tuesday, before suffering a tough loss at home to Kingston on Friday.
The Sulphur boys got two huge wins before Christmas break last week, beating Byng and Kingston to move to 3-3 on the year.
