Lady Dogs Out Of The Gates Fast

The Sulphur softball team got going last week, playing nine games and are now the No. 5 team in Class 5A after the first week of games.

Although the Sulphur Lady Bulldogs fell short of winning the state title on the court, they were awarded the academic state championship in a ceremony at the state title game last Saturday in Oklahoma City.The girls are pictured above with their trophy along with head coach Toby Todd, assistant Tracy Eldred, principal Clete Cole and superintendent Paula Crawford. Sulphur Lady Bulldog’s basketball team members celebrate winning the Area Tournament championship and staking a claim in the state Class 3A tournament which begins Thursday in Oklahoma City. Sulphur won in a thriller over Roland, 33,-32, to advance on to the state meet where they will play Adair in first round action at 2:00 p.m. in the Oklahoma City University field house. In their only other state appearance, Sulphur completed an undefeated dream season by beating Perkins-Tryon to win the title in 2013.
