With only five action items on the agenda, there was not much action at the Sulphur City Council meeting Monday night. Three of the five items were tabled.
City Manager Andy Freeman requested the board table two items until more information could be completed. One item was adopting the 2018 International Building Codes and one item was the status of City of Sulphur boards and committees. According to Freeman, the city ordinances allow for boards such as cemetery, library, historical, parks and recreation, senior citizens, etc, however it is not known if these boards are still required to be active or if other amendments or changes were approved. Freeman said a lot of research through previous board minutes will be needed to determine the status of the boards and committees.
Members also tabled a decision of approving quotes for a GIS mapping system for the city water lines and property lines. Members heard presentations from two companies, Parkhill and True North Mapping regarding the mapping but requested the tabling of quotes for further discussion before determining the best one for the city.
In other agenda action, the board approved the following:
•approved a $600.00 payment to the Sulphur Chamber of Commerce for annual membership; and
•approved a quote for up to $17,500 to scan potential properties for the OWRB/Chickasaw Nation Grant project.
Members approved the following in the consent agenda:
•payment to FirstNet, a branch of AT&T for cell phone service in an amount not to exceed $900.00;
•approximate payment amount of $15,000.00 and $10,000.00 to Finish Line for fuel expenses for January.
In correspondence and updates, Freeman told members the city website is up and running; TAP Grant for sidewalks on Broadway is approved; beacon light at airport is under warranty and will be replaced; OWRD/Chickasaw Nation Grant is moving forward; lead line locations have been started; still issues with fuel farm at the airport.
Freeman also told members he is working with the city attorney with on going issues regarding the public works facility renovations and the new roll off truck bed.
All five council members were present at the meeting.
