Murray County 4-H’ers Celebrate Successful Year
SUMMER CELEBRATION - Murray County 4-H members who have earned an all-expense paid trip this summer are all smiles at the recently held 4-H Honor’s Night Celebration. These members participated in at least 90% of all events and activities for the 2024-2025 4-H year.

Murray County 4-H members gathered on April 15 to celebrate their work and achievements for the 2024-25 4-H year. The evening celebration not only was attended by members but their families and members from the community were present as well.

Public speaking awards were presented for five separate contests which included speeches, illustrated presentations, power point, patriotic and famous people and character contest.

Winners receiving awards were: Speech Grand Champion Junior Division Braxton Edmoundson, Intermediate Grand Champion Breindel Lee and Senior Division Grand Champion Dannah Buhrmester.

In the demonstration contest Junior Division Grand Champion was Juliana Johnson, Reserve Champion Braxton Edmoundson. Intermediate Grand Champion was Brindel Lee and Reserve Champion Kiliana Johnson. Working in teams the team junior illustrated presentation for Grand Champion was presented to Blaine Johnson and Jase Keck while the Senior Division awarded the Grand Champion trophy to Dannah Buhrmester with Reserve Champion Palin Lacey.

Illustrated presentation awards were presented to Senior Dayton Day in the Senior Category, Intermediate Division was Grand Champion Bentley Thompson In the Power Point category Grand Champion award was presented to Juliana Johnson, Reserve Champion was Blaine Johnson. Intermediate Grand Champion was Kiliana Johnson and Senior Division Grand Champion wasAubree Lee and Dannah Buhrmester.

Famous character awards were presented to Braxton Edmoundson for Grand Champion, Intermediate Division Grand Champion was Bailey Frame and Senior Division winners were Grand Champion Kole De Arman and Reserve Champion Palin Lacey Extemporaneous winners were Grand Champion Junior Kiliana Johnson, Reserve Champion Juliana Johnson. Intermediate division winner was Grand Champion Briendel Lee and Senior division Grand Champion was presented to Dannah Buhrmester followed by Reserve Champion Matthew Mayo.

The Murray County 4-H program places a great emphasis on patriotism and these contest winners were Grand Champion Braxton Edmoundson in the junior division followed by Jace Donaho as Reserve Champion. Intermediate Grand Champion was presented to Kiliana Johnson and Senior Division Grand Champion was Kole De Arman and Reserve Champion Dannah Buhrmester.

4-H Food Showdown winners receiving awards were Junior Team Kiliana Johnson and Matthey Mayo with Reserve Champion team Dannah Buhrmester, Breindel Lee and Alice Wakefield. Grand Champion Senior team was awarded to JoLynn Wolfe and Laynie Gradley, Reserve Champions were Andi-Kate Zevely, Palin Lacey and Aubree Lee.

Holiday Festival winners were Overall Grand Champion Junior Division Braxton Edmoundson, Reserve Kiliana Johnson, in the Senior Division Overall Grand was presented to Dayton Day with Reserve Champion going to Andi-Kate Zevely.

Table-setting Contest winners in the Junior Division Formal Setting were Grand Champion Braxton Edmoundson, Reserve Champion Audrey Brassfield, Grand Champion Informal Division winners were Junior Division Gentry Ingram and Reserve Champion Jace Donaho.

Grand Champion in the Intermediate Division was Kiliana Johnson with Reserve Champion awarded to Alice Wakefield. Intermediate Division Formal Grand winner was Breindel Lee and Reserve Champion Kiliana Johnson. Senior Grand Champion informal was presented toAubree Lee and Reserve Champion was Andi-Kate Zevely.

The Cupcake War Challenge winners in the Junior Division was Grand Champion Braxton Edmoundson and Reserve Champion was an unbreakable tie between Rynlee Brady and Jace Keck.

Intermediate Division award was presented to Breindel Lee and Reserve presented to Banjamin Lockridge while Senior Division winners were Aubree Lee as Grand Champion and Matthew May as Reserve Champion.

Linda Shelby of the Harmony OHCE Club presented the Harmony Food Science Award to Juliana Johnson with a check for $100 accompanying the award.

The Oklahoma Wheat Commission recognized Breindel Lee as the winner and the Oklahoma Peanut Commission recognized Braxton Edmoundson for his work in peanuts.

Glenn Mann, Murray County Fair Board Present presented a check for $50 to Dayton Day for having the most entries in the 2024 Murray County Fair. Day entered 21 indoor exhibits.

Lilly Rushing was presented the Outstanding Reporter’s Award for her sheep and goat club while Brailee Lewis, also from the sheep and goat club received the Outstanding Secretary’s award.

One of the special awards presented is admission into the Top 10 Club where the outstanding top junior and senior members are recognized. This year’s admission included Top 10 Junior members, Kilians Johnson, Juliana Johnson, Braxton Edmoundson, Riker Wright, Blaine Johnson, Rynlee Brads, Loukota McKain, Jace Donaho, Bentley Thompson and Evelyn Wakefield.

Top 10 Seniors were Aubree Lee, Breindel Lee, Kole De Arman, Dannah Buhrmester, Palin Lacey, Alice Wakefield, , Matthew Mayo, Andi-Kate Zevely, Bailey Frame and Braylee Lewis.

The Goffe Award is presented annually to the outstanding Junior and Senior boy and girl. This is a result of a donation in 1967 from the Goffe family of Sulphur who donated $5,000 in a trust. Recipients were Aubree Lee and Kole De Arman as seniors and Junior winners were Kiliana Johnson and Braxton Edmoundson.

Teen 4-H members who were awarded trips included Kole De Arman traveling to Citizenship Washington Focus in Washington D.C. and traveling to the New Mexico Senior Leadership Retreat will be Breindel Lee and Dannah Buhrmester was selected as the alternate delegate.

The evening also included 4-H Volunteers recognizing their project club members and 31 members received medals and certificates for their project work.

The 4-H program is open to youth 9 to 19 years of age and a special program known as Clover Buds is designed for youth 5 to 8 years old who are not old enough for the official program.

2024-2025 4-H JR. AMBASSADORS - Officers in training and developing new leadership skills is the mission of the Jr. Ambassador program. Those serving this past year were back row - Evelyn Wakefield, Braxton Edmoundson, Kiliana Johnson, Jace Donaho, Juliana Johnson, Ryker Wright and Rynlee Brady.
