These First American dancers were among many groups performing at last Saturday’s Artesian Arts Festival in downtown Sulphur.

The 12th annual event was originally scheduled for April 5, but was postponed due to weather, and held in beautiful conditions on June 7 at the Artesian Plaza in eastern downtown district.

In addition to these colorful dancers in the photo above, an estimated 125 First American artists from across the United States displayed a vast collection of original art throughout the day.

Last year, the community celebration, hosted by the Chickasaw Nation, welcomed more than 15,400 patrons to the downtown area. Estimates of this year’s total have not yet been released, but a big crowd was on hand throughout the day.
