County OKs Resolution For Up To 5% Employee Pay Increase

Murray County Commissioners and the Murray County Excise Board members met in a joint meeting Monday to discuss the 2025-26 fiscal year budget.

Commissioners approved the 2025-2026 Murray County Officers and Employees Salaries and Resolution. The resolution allows for a pay increase for officers and employees up to 5%.

The employee raises will be made at the discretion of the county officer.

The minimum salary for a Murray County Elected Official for 2025 is $28,875.00 annually, while the maximum salary is $59,375.00 annually. The salary schedule is based on factors within the county such as gross assessed valuation of all the county’s tangible taxable property, population, etc.

The county will begin the new year July 1 with a “beginning budget figure” since the actual budget figures will not be received from the budget preparer until probably September.

Each elected official was in attendance to present their budget requests to the board members.

Most county officers only increase their requests due to higher food costs at the jail, fuel prices and higher postage rates.

The total beginning budget request for all entities was $1,993,640.24.

After hearing from each official, commissioners made recommendations to the Excise Board for the Annual Report Estimated Income and Needs and beginning budget for approval.
