Residents are reminded to exercise caution leading up to the July 4th holiday, especially with fireworks, and while at the lake or other venues. While temperatures are not expected to be extreme this weekend, it is always a good idea to play it safe when outdoors, officials say. The forecast for Sulphur and the Murray County area brings in near normal temperatures with a chance of showers and thunderstorms through Friday. Although April, May and June storms have blessed the area with plentiful rainfall (just over 30 inches for the year), fires can still occur, and officials recommend using caution while using fireworks. There are several public fireworks displays in this area for safe viewing.
