On July 23, 2025, OBN’s Marijuana Enforcement Teams (MET) served a search warrant at SUNQ GROUP LLC (1129 Powell Road), east of Sulphur, as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, including operating with an OBN Registration obtained by fraud using a ‘straw ownership’ scheme, officials said.
OBN METAgents seized 21,286 plants and 803 pounds of processed marijuana, according to agency’s post. Arrests are pending, officials said, as the investigation continues. ImmigrationAnd Customs Enforcement (ICE) took nine individuals into custody. OBN MET was assisted by HSI, ICE, DEA, the Murray County Sheriff’s Office, and the Murray County Commissioner’s Office.
Since 2021, OBN MET Agents have shut down over 6,000 illegal marijuana farms through enforcement and/or administrative actions for grows tied to black market trafficking and obtaining an OBN Registration by fraud using ‘straw ownership’ schemes. At the end of 2022, 8,400 farms were operating with an active OBN Registration. Today, that number stands at approximately 2,100.
