Council Approves Two Expenditure Items

The Sulphur City Council met in a special meting last Wednesday evening, Aug. 20.

The purpose of the meeting was to approve two previously approved expenditures for claims associated with the April 27 tornado.

Members approved the payments at the regular monthly meeting on August 11, however the agenda item stated funds were to be paid from FEMA money received. The agenda should have stated the claims would be paid from the General Fund and then reimbursed from the FEMA Funds from Category B Emergency Response Expenses at a later date.

The other agenda item approved at the meeting was for the remediation of the mold in the Arbuckle Historical Society building.

The bids for the project were presented at the regular monthly meeting, but no action was taken at that time.

The members voted to accept a bid of $57,514.40 plus an additional $1,437.86 for bond, from Environmental Action, Inc., for the mold clean-up only. No action was taken on lead remediation in the building.
