Lady Dogs Get Wins Over Ardmore, Ada, Healdton; Lose To Davis

Sulphur picked up fastpitch wins over Healdton and Ardmore, while losing to Lone Grove and Davis, last week, as they move into the final week of the regular season.

The Lady Bulldogs (12-10) got by Healdton and Ardmore at home last Tuesday.

The win over Healdton wasn’t sealed until Paige Collins and Zoli May each singled in the bottom of the sixth inning, each scoring a run to lead their to a 6-5 win.

Kinsley Rochelle, Collins and Elisha Reagle led the Lady Bulldogs with a combined six of the team’s 12 hits. Rochelle got the win from the mound, allowing just four hits.

Lady Bulldog Destrie Muck opened the scoring in the first after grounding out and scoring a run. Reagle led the team with two RBI’s, going 1-3 for the day. Collins had three hits with Rochelle, Landri Oxley and May getting two hits.

In the win over Ardmore, the Lady Bulldog’s Cheyenne Ruth was dominant from the mound, striking out 10 in the 10-0 win over the Lady Tigers.

Rochelle got Sulphur going in the bottom of the second scoring two runs, one on an error and another on a passed ball.

Sulphur padded their lead in the bottom of the third on an error-scoring run and a Johnston single that scored two runs.

Rochelle, Muck, Johnston and Ruth combined for one hit each and Johnson batted in two runs.

The Lady Dogs faced a four-run deficit against Davis on Thursday, Sept. 18, but were unable to close the gap, and lost a hard-fought, 5-4 thriller.

Davis’ Kadyn Griffin singled in the bottom of the eighth to score a run and lead her team to victory.

Rochelle led Sulphur with two RBI’s and a hit while Muck and Savannah Patrick also picked up one hit each.

Rochelle allowed eight hits and five runs (one earned) in the loss. In games on Monday of this week, the Lady Bulldogs rolled over Ada in a double header, 15-4 and 11-0. The Lady Dogs will close out the season at Plainview (Sept. 23), at Newcastle (Sept. 25), at home vs. Tishomingo (Sept. 29) and at Durant (Sept. 30).

The regional tournament will be held October 2-3, the super regionals Oct. 9-10, and the state meet Oct. 16-18, with teams and times to be announced.
