Two Pedestrians Among 3 Killed In Area Accidents

Two pedestrians with the same last name died just days apart after they were hit while stepping into or in lanes of traffic on area roads, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The deaths occurred on S.H. 7 in Murray County and on U.S. 177 in Johnston County, troopers reported.

The Murray County accident happened at the intersection of S.H. 7 and Chickasaw Trail Rd., about 11:29 p.m., on October 9, according to the patrol.

Troopers said a man, identified as Chad Hicks, 28, Davis, stepped into traffic and was struck and killed by a motorcycle.

The motorcycle driver, Steven E. Taylor, 34, Dougherty, and an unidentified passenger both sustained injures, according to the patrol.

The patrol said the Johnston County accident happened about 9:17 p.m. on October 7 at U.S. 177 and Foster Lane when an eastbound vehicle struck and killed Terra A. Hicks, 27, Oklahoma City.

Troopers said Hicks was in the roadway when she was truck by a vehicle, driven by Timothy Lee Robinson, 47, Kenefic.

Neither Robinson nor a passenger were hurt in the accident, according to troopers.

Two-Vehicle Crash Claims Life In Johnston County

A third fatality in this area occurred about 3:41 p.m. on October 8 in Johnston County at the intersection of S.H. 48 and Egypt Rd., the patrol reported.

Killed in that accident was 20-year-old Christopher Torres, of Houston, Texas, according to the patrol.

Torres was a passenger in a vehicle, driven by Maria G. Beltrain 47, Houston, Texas.

Also injured in the crash were three minor children in the Beltrain vehicle, ages 15, 13, and 10, troopers reported.

The driver of the other vehicle, Sammy W. Collier, 45, Gilmer, Texas, was not injured, according to the patrol report.

Troopers said the accident happened when Beltrain made a left turn, failing to yield to oncoming traffic, and was struck by Collier’s commercial motor vehicle.

Sulphur Man Hurt In Crash On U.S. 177

A 54-year-old Sulphur man, Michael W. Lawrence, was injured in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 177, one-half mile south of Dozier Rd., north of Sulphur. The crash happened about 10:35 a.m. on October 10, according to the patrol.

Troopers said Lawrence was pulling a 16-foot trailer and was headed northbound when his vehicle began fishtailing, causing him to lose control and enter the southbound lane where it struck by a vehicle, driven by Bradley D. Woodruff, 42, Davis.

Woodruff’s vehicle overturned one-fourth time after impact, however, he was not injured in the accident, the patrol report indicated.
