Sulphur’s Drake Wood, a junior, 5-8, 148-pound wide receiver and defensive back, was named Player of the Week for his outstanding effort in Sulphur’s 53-21 win over Lone Grove last Friday in their third 3A-2 district win.
Wood caught the first TD in the game on a 41-yard reception, then after Lone Grove stopped a Sulphur drive on an intercepted pass, he intercepted it back on the very next play and Sulphur scored to make it 12-0. On Lone Grove’s next possession his big hit caused a fumble and Sulphur scored again to make it 19-7.
