Woman Dies Of Apparent Suicide Following Pursuit

A Grapevine, Texas woman died late last Tuesday, Oct. 7, of an apparent suicide following a pursuit through three southern Oklahoma counties, authorities said.

According to an incident report from the Murray County Sheriff’s Office, the woman was identified as Michelle, Mack, 47.

Earlier media reports indicated that the Love County Sheriff’s Office attempted to locate a female driver after they learned she was suicidal and heading northbound on I-35. When they found the vehicle and attempted to perform a welfare check, the driver, later identified as Mack, fled northbound, exceeding speeds greater than 110 miles-per-hour.

According to the reports, the driver continued through Carter County and finally into Murray County where the pursuit ended after local authorities discovered the woman dead in her vehicle.

A Murray County incident report indicated that Mack stopped just south of the 51-mile-marker where deputy Blake Clifton was set up to deploy tire deflation device as other pursuing units were closing on that location.

According to the incident report, a group of law enforcement officers used a patrol car as cover and proceeded to the vehicle where they confirmed the female driver deceased with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
