Body Found Near Veterans Lake ID’d As Missing Student

18-Year-Old Cameron Lewis Being Held Pending Filing Charges In The Case

Amissing Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) student, identified by authorities as 18-year-old Logan Nathaniel Musil, was found dead in a wooded area near Veterans Lake in Chickasaw National Recreation Area last Wednesday, according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).

OSBI investigators said Musil was reported missing from the school in Weatherford on the night of September 30, 2025, and an official request was sent by the school’s police department to OSBI to investigate on October 5.

OSBI special agents, along with local law enforcement, then began a “comprehensive search for Musil,” according to the agency.

The probe, based on information gathered on October 8, eventually led authorities to a wooded area near Veterans Lake where an adult male was found deceased, according to OSBI. Assisting in the search were OSBI, Murray County Sheriff’s Office, Chickasaw Lighthorse Police Department, and the National Park Service.

OSBI said the body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, who positively identified the victim as Musil.

During their investigation, OSBI special agents said they learned that Musil had been in an altercation with 18-year-old Cameron Lewis, of Purcell, prior to his death. Based on the information and evidence obtained, Lewis, a student SWOSU, was arrested on October 9, 2025, in Weatherford, and was booked into the Custer County Jail.

According to media reports, investigators on October 7, obtained Lewis’ phone records, which showed that just after 2:00 a.m. on September 13, his phone was located traveling southbound on Interstate 35 from Purcell. Around 3:49 a.m., it was detected east near Davis, and at 4:22 a.m., it was near Veterans Lake in Sulphur before returning to Purcell later that morning. Investigators said in those media reports there were also indications that Lewis traveled toward Edmond that day.
