Massive 70,000 Sq. Ft. School Project Moving Along
Sulphur Superintendent Matt Holder this week provided an update on the school’s bond building project, which was approved by local voters several years ago.
Holder said the 70,000 square foot, $35 million project is progressing, but like most construction projects, not fast enough. He said even though they are as much on track as possible with weather, etc., no definitive time-line has been received on completion.
Holder did note that getting materials has not been a factor in the project.
When completed, the project will have a regulation size gym that will accommodate approximately 1,500 people and an auditorium with a 750-person capacity. The gym and auditorium will share a lobby area with restrooms and concession.
Also included in the project are more classrooms for the high school as well as a college and career center with three classrooms. The career center will allow students to attend concurrent college classes while in high school.
