Trick-or-Treat Night Set Thursday, Oct. 30

Trick-or-Treat Night Set Thursday, Oct. 30

The City of Sulphur will hold its Halloween Trick-or-Treat night this Thursday, Oct. 30. The Sulphur council recently set that date (the official Halloween night) as the date for Sulphur kids to enjoy the festivities.

City officials recommended that parents take their kids trick-ortreating between the hours of 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. and that all primary safety precautions be observed, including safety while walking to and from homes. It is also recommended that parents not accept any candy that is not securely wrapped or fastened.

Parents are urged to practice all safety measures including inspecting all candy.

Other common sense approaches that will ensure kids’ safety include going only to houses with porch lights on and to trick-or-treat in neighborhoods with which they are familiar.

Motorists are encouraged to exercise extreme caution, especially in residential streets where kids will be trick-or-treating.

Trick-or-Treat Safety Tips

•Walk on the left side of the road, facing traffic if there are no sidewalks.

•Carry a flashlight or glow stick so you can be seen when it gets dark.

•Cross the street only at intersections and look both ways before crossing.

•Parents are advised to look over treats before kids are allowed to eat them.

•Do not snack on your treats while trick-or-treating.

•Don’t run while trick-or-treating, walk from house to house.

•If possible, walk on sidewalks, not in the street.

•Remember, there will be a lot of traffic on the roads that night, so be alert.

•Have a safe and enjoyable Halloween.
