Parade Set On Tuesday, Nov. 11
Murray County American Legion Post 148 again will host their annual Veterans Day Parade, this year honoring the memory of longtime Legionnaire, Donald “Ducky” Day.
The parade is set for Tuesday, Nov. 11 and will follow a route from Snak Shak Central, at West 12th and Broadway, east on Broadway Ave., then north on West 9th to Wynnewood St., then east to Calvin Agee Field in the Sulphur Public School complex.
Post 148 Legion Commander Mark Estlack said the parade will kick off at 1:00 p.m., and he is inviting the public to join in honoring service members as the nation celebrates an important day in its history. Parade participants can begin lining up at 12:15 p.m.
Estlack is also encouraging participation in the parade with floats, vehicles and marching groups. Those wishing to play a part in the parade with a float, vehicle, or group can contact him at (580) -618-2368.
He said there will be first, second and third place prizes for best floats.
This year’s parade grand marshal is Clarinda Day, wife of the late Donald “Ducky” Day.
In years past, the Veterans Day observation has been a multi-faceted patriotic event with floats, marching bands, and community participation.
